Why choose social purchasing?

A world with countless stores, sales, and an endless inventory of cheap and beautiful household items and art raises the question – why choose social purchasing?
When I buy a gift from "The Susan House," I’m choosing not only a beautiful, quality product but also a gift with a story. A handmade gift, created through a meaningful choice by young boys and girls. The choice to be part of a process that empowers them. The choice to work, persevere, succeed, and grow. Each item carries an additional value – a sense of competence, growth, and the visibility of the creator behind it.
Let me share with you the story of Matan, a young man who joined us last year.
He grew up in a home where, despite his parents’ love, they faced economic and emotional challenges. There were many moments of impatience, shouting, and even violence. When there’s no sense of security at home, Matan found himself spending more and more time on the street, avoiding going back home.
He also found it hard at school. He felt he wasn’t good enough – not academically, not at home, and not in himself. Over time, he started smoking and doing reckless things just to fill the emptiness.
One day, his social worker suggested he join "The Susan House."
Matan, who was worried he wouldn’t succeed with ceramic art, decided to try anyways. Despite the difficulty and fear, from day one he felt a sense of belonging. There was a welcoming team and people happy to greet him, warm lunch, and lots of encouragement.
Over time, he learned the craft of ceramics and was amazed at his creations. From lumps of clay, he designed beautiful vessels, and for the first time in his life, he saw people buying them. Choosing something he made. Along the way, he also started receiving a salary.
Instead of wandering the streets, Matan would come to the studio. There, he learned to deal with frustrations, share his feelings, and find solutions to problems. He discovered artistic abilities, built good relationships, and most importantly – he realized he is capable, talented, and loved.
By choosing social purchasing, you're not just buying a gift. You are giving an opportunity...
